Presents In Bed

Today is Ashlynne's actual birthday and we woke her up with the traditional Presents In Bed! Last year we were in the middle of moving out here to the west coast so this was the first year Trey and I had to crawl up in the loft bed to do it. Luckily, dad was already gone to class!

We'll be off to Great Grandma & Grandpa's later this afternoon to celebrate with them and Grandma Bergman and have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Then we're off to Alabama in the morning!

Fun in the yard

Just a few pictures of the little man playing in the back yard on an actual warm, sunny day! Plus, here's a couple of my first rose bush and strawberry plant! *that strawberry lasted about five more minutes before Trey took notice. :-(

Birthday Girl... a little early

We had Ashlynne's 12th Birthday party yesterday and they had a blast! We did it a little early for a couple of reasons. One, to make sure as many kids as she wanted could come before they went off for the summer, and Two, because ...we're going off for the summer! (most of it) Yes, we're heading off to Grandma Mickie and Pop-Pop's on Wednesday and will be back July 15th. I know I'm looking forward to real summer heat! But, back to the party...

We rented a Fun Jump that juuuuust fit in the back yard. Add her big present, Guitar Hero and everyone was very entertained! The Fun Jump people were so busy this weekend that they had to come set it up on Friday evening around 8:30 and didn't pick it up until 7:30 Saturday night. Whoo-hoo! The kids LOVED it. We got used to it pretty quick so now that it's gone, the yard looks so empty! She had four of her friends spend the night so needless to say it was fun but we are beat today! Check out the cake complete with finger mark from Trey. I can't believe my little girl's cake took a whole package of candles!!!

We'll be heading up to Lance's grandparent's on Tuesday and taking Ashlynne out to her actual birthday dinner along with Grandma Bergman. Lance will have to get back for his Wednesday classes so Grandpa Ernie will run us to the airport in the morning and Alabama here we come! We look forward to seeing everyone who'll be close by!

End of Year Picnic & Graduation

So the school year was winding down but there was still much fun to be had! The end-of-year picnic included the whole school and their families and a big cook-out. Ashlynne and her friends made the most of it as you can see in the pictures! (So did I by selling more yearbooks!) http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j220/st965/June%202008/

And finally, Ashlynne is officially a middle schooler! She had her Aloha-themed graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 5th. It was really nice-- they did a slideshow of the kids throughout the year and ended it with a shot of them as a baby and then revealed who the kid was with a current shot. Awwwww. Each child came up on stage to collect their "diploma" and say a line on what they learned or enjoyed most over the year or some words of wisdom to the 5th graders coming up. Here's a clip of Ashlynne's-- if the camera had stayed on the first teacher (Mrs. Chavez) you would have seen her wipe a tear away after Ashlynne finished. Of course she is three months pregnant and cries a lot right now! We are so proud of Ashlynne!

Boardwalk and Aesop!

Oops! Has it really been more than a month since we last posted? Man, times sure flies. School has been keeping Ashlynne and the rest of us busy with lots of activities that lead up to her last day of school on Friday.

All year long she looked forward to the big end of the year field trip to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. She had tons of fun and took lots of cute pictures. When she finds them again, I'll post them!

Next was their play, 'BeBop With Aesop'. Ashlynne had the role of the Milkmaid and I do not exaggerate when I say she was fabulous! Trey was nonplussed to be sitting so far away from Ashlynne and all the excitement so my pictures and video are less than stellar. The school says they're going to stream the play on their website so I'll be looking for them to post it and get the link up here as soon as it's up if you'd like to see it! Otherwise take a look at these pics! http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j220/st965/BeBop%20With%20Aesop%202008/
