So Saturday was the great and terrible day. Great, because it was Ashlynne's 13th Birthday pool party (actual b-day was on Wed. the 10th). She decided it would have a 'Peter Pan' theme. This was probably due to the fact that it was swimming around in her brain, the book having been assigned to her to read on our trip across country. On first thought, seems like this would be a really easy theme to decorate for... not so much! You can find Tinkerbell stuff all day, but Peter -the STAR of the book- is sadly missing from any party store you could come across. Suffice it to say, it was more of a Neverland themed party with aspects of it's different areas and colors. Ashlynne gave props to Peter in her green bikini. She had hopes that everyone that came would give some sort of nod to the theme by wearing something to identify their character, but only Grandaddy Richard & Grandmother Sandy came through with Tinkerbell buttons on their shirts. Big thanks to you guys for the effort! :-)
I said terrible day too. That would come from Lance's phone call telling me that our brand new house that we haven't even moved into yet had been broken into the evening before. Apparently, it was a dark, rainy night and perfect cover to break into the back french doors and steal the refridgerator and range. ...sniff... my brand new 5-burner range.... :-(
Anyway, the worst of it is that they cut or yanked the water line out from the back of the fridge and left the water to run all over flooding the entire bottom floor. The kitchen is all tile, but the rest is hardwood and it leaked through to the crawlspace under the house. So now the big question is do we have to replace the hard wood floors or not?
Lance has been playing phone tag all week with the insurance people and has yet to get anyone over there to do an inspection. Add to that he's going TDY for a week on Monday. So unless he can get things going TODAY, that'll be another week of delay. And another week of us in limbo down here. Honestly, it could be worse, right? Our furniture could have been moved in and stolen as well or we could already be up there sitting in a hotel for who knows how long bouncing off the walls. At least we're down here with family. (hopefully they're not getting too sick of us!)

About time...
April!? The last post was in April?! Wow, can it really be that long? Oh, yes. It' s been a long haul and it's still not over yet. We got ourselves all moved out of the house in Monterey, stayed in the Naval Lodge for a week and Grandma Mickie even flew out to give us some company (and me some help!) on the long drive across country back to the east coast.
The first big touristy stop for us was Yosemite and all I can say is ...wow! No pictures can really do it justice. I had no idea how many beautiful waterfalls we had like that in the U.S. This is definitely one of those "must see" places to put on your bucket list!
Next was a stop in Sedona, Az to see sister, Brooke, Kelli and their little one, Sage. He is so adorable! (pics coming promise) Sedona is like being on another continent, it's so unique and different. Then on to Albaquerque, NM to see little brother, Josh. Little brother who is like, 6'3 or so, haha. Also took the kids to the Natural History & Science Museum while we were there and saw some very cool dinosaur bones. Right up Trey's alley!
Once we reached the southeast, we deposited Grandma safe and sound back in Daphne and visited Grandaddy Richard and Grandmother Sandy in Marianna for a few days. We had a great time with them on a day trip to Port St. Joe at the beach. PSJ has a beach side and a bay side which has all sorts of cool hermit crabs, urchins and all other manner of cool swimmy things you can catch with a net. Grandaddy and Trey had the best time collecting them and showing them off to Grandmother (who wanted to no part of it!) Trey found a tiny fish that he kept holding up and saying, "hey little fella!" (again pics are coming!)
After we left Marianna, we headed up to Enterprise, Al to visit with Lance's parents, Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Larry. They were so sweet to give Ashlynne and I BamaJam tickets for our upcoming birthdays! BamaJam is a 3-day music festival in Enterprise. Feels like we saw everybody that weekend!... Brooks & Dunn, Charlie Daniels Band, Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock... too many to mention. Check it out http://www.bamajam.com/ We had a great but completely exhausting time. I really hope we can do it again next year. Lance would have loved it (especially to see the Black Crowes!) ...maybe next year! Trey on the other hand got to spend some quality time with grandma & grandpa and had a big itinerary of his own. He met the ladies at Jeanne's school, went to the park, and the Fun Factory (like a Chuck E. Cheese) whoo hoo!
Now, we're back at Grandma Mickie's in Daphne ...still. Should have left on Tuesday but other forces have intervened. That's another story....
