So Saturday was the great and terrible day. Great, because it was Ashlynne's 13th Birthday pool party (actual b-day was on Wed. the 10th). She decided it would have a 'Peter Pan' theme. This was probably due to the fact that it was swimming around in her brain, the book having been assigned to her to read on our trip across country. On first thought, seems like this would be a really easy theme to decorate for... not so much! You can find Tinkerbell stuff all day, but Peter -the STAR of the book- is sadly missing from any party store you could come across. Suffice it to say, it was more of a Neverland themed party with aspects of it's different areas and colors. Ashlynne gave props to Peter in her green bikini. She had hopes that everyone that came would give some sort of nod to the theme by wearing something to identify their character, but only Grandaddy Richard & Grandmother Sandy came through with Tinkerbell buttons on their shirts. Big thanks to you guys for the effort! :-)
I said terrible day too. That would come from Lance's phone call telling me that our brand new house that we haven't even moved into yet had been broken into the evening before. Apparently, it was a dark, rainy night and perfect cover to break into the back french doors and steal the refridgerator and range. ...sniff... my brand new 5-burner range.... :-(
Anyway, the worst of it is that they cut or yanked the water line out from the back of the fridge and left the water to run all over flooding the entire bottom floor. The kitchen is all tile, but the rest is hardwood and it leaked through to the crawlspace under the house. So now the big question is do we have to replace the hard wood floors or not?
Lance has been playing phone tag all week with the insurance people and has yet to get anyone over there to do an inspection. Add to that he's going TDY for a week on Monday. So unless he can get things going TODAY, that'll be another week of delay. And another week of us in limbo down here. Honestly, it could be worse, right? Our furniture could have been moved in and stolen as well or we could already be up there sitting in a hotel for who knows how long bouncing off the walls. At least we're down here with family. (hopefully they're not getting too sick of us!)
